How we work

Who writes this, how we choose the tools we mention, and what we earn when you use them.

Who writes this

Rooted in Ruckus is written by Amy Sherwood, a parent working out the same problems as everyone reading. Not a therapist, not a clinician, not a productivity expert. The rhythms here come from running a household and paying attention to what actually held.

Everything published has been tried in a real family before it appears here. Where something worked for us and might not work for you, we say so.

What we publish

Every article is written to be used. That means a stated read time, a stated time to try it, and a plain description of what you will have when you are done. If a piece cannot offer those three things honestly, it does not run.

  • No statistics. We do not cite research we have not read, and we do not use numbers to make an argument feel more solid than it is.
  • No manufactured urgency. Nothing here is designed to make you feel behind.
  • No invented specifics. If we do not know something, we say we do not know it.

How we choose the tools we mention

Some articles include a short good, better, best recommendation. A tool earns a place only when it makes a rhythm easier to keep. Three rules govern every one of them.

  1. The free option is always first, and it is a real answer. Paper on the fridge appears in our recommendations because paper on the fridge works. It is not there to make the paid options look better.
  2. The recommendation is never the reason the article exists. We write the piece first. If nothing genuinely helps, the block does not appear — most of our articles have no recommendations at all.
  3. We only recommend what we would tell a friend to buy. Not the highest commission, not the newest thing, not whatever an affiliate program is promoting this month.

Affiliate disclosure

What we earn, and from whom

Some links in our recommendation blocks are affiliate links. If you buy through one, we may receive a commission at no additional cost to you. We are a participant in [AFFILIATE PROGRAM NAMES].

Every article containing an affiliate link says so at the recommendation itself, not only here. A commission never changes what we recommend or the order we recommend it in, and we are not paid to write about any product.

Corrections

If something here is wrong, tell us and we will fix it. Write to support@rootedinruckus.com. Corrections to published articles are made in place and noted at the foot of the piece.

Our products

Rooted in Ruckus sells printable workbooks built on the same method the journal teaches. Articles sometimes point to them. Those are our own products, not affiliate links, and everything the journal teaches is free to use without buying anything.
